The Alternatives (God Bless The Tiny Desk)

We live in a world where the authenticity of music, along with many other things, is deteriorating. The monotonous tunes of today have become involuntarily imprinted in the mind, making one resort to reciting the lyrics to the most annoying and vapid songs verbatim in a social situation.

I find myself in a constant state of nostalgia, trying to draw inspiration from music of yesteryear. You know when people actually sang from their gut and recited from the heart. When people actually used their instruments, complementing their voices and lyrics and thus creating an explosive sense of synergy. Don't get me wrong, I am not dismissing the art nor the notion of using synthesizers to create something phenomenal. However, everyone is doing the same damn thing and as far as I remember clubbangers are only to be used as a soundtrack to our consumer-driven social lives.

Now a friend of mine opened my eyes to some good shiiiit. I mean that mind blowing kinda shiiit. That Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes kind of shiiit. Watching them perform "Home", "Janglin'" as well as "40 Day Dream" at a Tiny Desk Concert absolutely blew my mind. I checked out some other Tiny Desk Concert performances and so jaws were dropped. It brought me to this conclusion:

"Indie may become saturated, but Indie will never die"

Peep these out, some of my faves.
