Platform High and 3/4

Back in the day, I believe I was deprived of what then seemed like a divine right to the ownership of a pair of Spice Girl shoes. I was always of the notion that these shoes defied the laws of gravity, thanks to incessantly watching the Spice Girls strut and sashay in these bad boys without toppling over like a bunch of bowling pins.

Like every glorious thing in fashion, these shoes have made a huge comeback - sooner than I thought even. Self proclaimed fashionistas all over the world have been donning this trend, taking them to new heights, literally. Although they are not the exact same design (they seem more refined now) as before they do seem to pay homage to the original sneaks. I mentioned to a friend the other day that I would consider turning to a pair of Buffalos - the then quasi "Spice shoe"(or nemesis if you will) - just to set the tone. With that being said, I doubt I'm ready for such a commitment. I've tried my luck out with a pair of Creepers I finally managed to score in December. Although very 80s-esque and rather eccentric, that's about as high as I'll go. Even though I'm not gutsy enough for them, I do really appreciate this look on the runway as well as on the streets.

Somebody that I wanna know

Fair enough, I knew nothing about this girl before she popped up on Gotye's critically acclaimed "Somebody That I Used to Know" vid. With that being said, who cares??? Kimbra is a sensational artist and I've been indulging in her solo work, a lot of which features on her album "Vows". I really enjoyed this performance of a song of hers entitled "Settle Down". She's just so badass. Hope you enjoy it too.

Like Milk and Honey

I tend to fall in love with a lot of cover artists that I stumble upon when clicking away through archives of videos on Youtube. I don't know what it is. Some people just manage to outdo the original artists with their personal take on the song, conjuring a different feel altogether.

In December, I came across a young lady by the name of Laura Zocca. Her voice is really so simple, so subtle and so pure but sends a sense of effervescence throughout my body, like a shaken up Coke bottle waiting to burst with excitement.  Here are two of my faves that she's done:

Safe and Sound - Taylor Swift (cover)

Paradise -  Coldplay (cover)

Hope you enjoy

Thoughts amplified - no way to silence them.
They put fingers to your lips to cut you off, call it amp-mute-tation.
